Info Tech Creates Consumer Anxiety Due to Network Effects

The nature of info tech is that it creates greater anxiety as a consumer because, due to network effects and the like, you are constantly forced to make choices that involve substantial sunk costs and / or switching costs. If I buy wrong oranges I can buy different ones tomorrow, but this is not so true of software.
